This year's Courageous Schools Conference is coming up!
Date: Saturday, May 17, 2014
Place: Bank Street College, 610 W. 112th St., NYC
The theme of this year's conference will be Restorative Circles. Over the past three years, Morningside Center has been working with the NYC Department of Education to help introduce Restorative Circles into middle schools and high schools around the city - and we want to share what we've learned! Kay Pranis, a national leader in Restorative Circles, will be with us for the day.
Circles use a highly structured process to create a safe space where people can share their feelings and experiences. Guided by a series of community agreements (or guidelines) developed by the students themselves, Circles use story-telling as a way to create a connection between participants and can become a setting where students address challenges and conflicts.
