Job Opening: Director of Human Resources

We are looking for an experienced and talented full-time Director of Human Resources to play a pivotal role in ensuring the smooth operation of our organization by overseeing all HR functions. We seek applicants who have a strong track record in the management of payroll processes, benefits administration, and financial support.

NYC-area applicants preferred. Remote work is possible, but the job requires traditional hours and regular in-person meetings. 
 

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  1. Payroll Management: Manage payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payments to all employees.
  2. Benefits Administration: Administer health benefits including healthcare, dental, and Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs) and oversee the administration of 403b retirement plans.
  3. HR Concerns and Resolutions: Address and help resolve employee relations issues, providing guidance and support to employees and management as needed.
  4. Employee Handbook: Develop and maintain the employee handbook, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and organizational policies.
  5. Annual Employee Reviews: Coordinate the annual employee review process for the organization. 
  6. Business Department Support: Assist the business department with end-of-year audits, ensuring compliance with financial regulations. 
  7. Administrative Tasks: Perform additional administrative tasks as needed, showing flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the organization's overall success.
    Salesforce Implementation: Lead the implementation of Salesforce time tracking software for all employees.
     

Qualifications:

  • BA in Human Resources/Nonprofit management/Business Administration preferred but not required; SHRM or equivalent certification preferred
  • 6-10 years of HR experience
  • Experience in managerial roles
  • Proficiency in managing PTO and vacation accruals
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent multitasking skills
  • Kindness, understanding, and strong ethics, including a commitment to confidentiality
  • Effective project management skills 
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving in HR and operations
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities and business acumen
     

NOTE:  Former NYC Department of Education employees are not eligible to apply for a position at Morningside until one year after they have left the DOE, to avoid a conflict of interest.

Annual salary range is between $85,000 and $95,000, depending on experience. Morningside Center provides a very competitive benefits package including healthcare (United Healthcare Oxford), dental and vision benefits (MetLife), a discretionary 5% employer contribution to a 403b retirement plan with Principal, and four weeks paid vacation.
