At Morningside Center, we've long acknowledged how necessary it is to build connection and community while continuing to fight for racial justice and equity. Now more than ever, our mission is essential to the social and emotional health of our schools.
2020 was one of the most challenging years in Morningside Center’s nearly 40-year history. We lost a beloved staff developer, Edwin Figueroa, to Covid, and many of us suffered other painful losses. The ongoing trauma and loss generated by white supremacy has taken a deep toll on our community.
Organizationally, 2020 was a rollercoaster ride. But we are here to tell the tale – and in fact, we are hopeful and excited about where we are and where we are headed.
Right now, we want to thank YOU for being on the path with us this past year. We are grateful for all the good work you’ve done, and for carrying on – despite everything!
We send our deep thanks and gratitude to all those who supported us directly over this past year. Your contribution went straight to providing social and emotional first aid to our schools – resources and support for everything from building a caring classroom community to combating racism in schools to promoting self-care, including finding joy even in the hardest times.
